Tracing the History of Individual Cells in the Early Embryo

A team of British researchers has come up with a new method through which they are able to trace the history of individual cells back to their origins in the fertilized egg. During the life of an individual, all cells in the body develop mutations, known as somatic mutations, which are not inherited from parents or passed on to offspring.
