New Guidelines Recommended for Snacks Sold in Schools

The US Department of Agriculture has called out for new guidelines that could see snacks sold in schools reduce fat, salt and sugar content and at the same time provide more nutritious items such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. The USDA said that the proposals have been overdue for over a year and added that schools should ensure that the food and drink items provided at vending machines should contain a maximum amount of 200 calories.
