Asthma Triggered by Viral Infections

The risk of asthma in newborns increases with viral infections, as such infections damage the immune system. Scientists found that infections by respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) damaged the capacity of immune cells to keep inflammation in the lung's airways under control.
