When It Comes to Fighting Disease The Eyes Seem To Have It

A new discovery shows that eye proteins have germ-killing power, the finding that could lead to new, inexpensive antimicrobial drugs. This discovery was made by a team of UC Berkeley vision scientists. They found that small fragments of keratin protein in the eye play a key role in warding off pathogens.
