No scientist ever did well by ignoring the subtleties of a subject

From an essay in the Lancet on some of the dangers of modern medicine:

"No scientist ever did well by ignoring the subtleties of a subject, and as long as medicine is practised by and for people, we cannot pretend that human complexity does not exist, or that it can be categorised and responded to adequately in a standardised way."
