Article: Transfer of Strength Training to Sport

When it comes to exercise the first thought that many have is to run or do some form of cardio in the gym, but that is not the case with sports training. When it relates to athletics exercise is a myriad of things typically consisting of a specific form of resistance training. Resistance training is not just weightlifting as most would think, but can broke down to three very specific types of resistance training: Traditional Resistance Training, Ballistic Resistance Training, and Functional Resistance Training.A large body of literature supports the fact that the different training types do increase strength and power, but how well does each different type of training transfer to sport?
