FDA approves AstraZeneca, Nektar constipation drug

The decision opens the door for peripherally acting mu opioid receptor antagonists, which have been linked with cardiovascular risk in the past. This class of opioid-induced constipation (OIC) drugs are designed to fight the effects of opioid painkillers on the gut without compromising centrally mediated pain relief. ...
